2027 Registration

Choose your distance, gather your cycling crew and get ready for an unforgettable weekend in Drumheller. With most distances selling out quickly each year (we have fully sold out the past 3 years), we encourage you to register early and secure your place at the start line before it’s too late!

Gran Fondo Badlands is becoming a two-day event in 2027 so riders can enjoy more space on the roads and a smoother start to their day. The 163km and 100km rides will take place on Saturday, July 3rd on routes that do not cross the Bleriot Ferry. The 75km and 50km rides will follow on Sunday, July 4th with the ferry crossing still part of the experience. Spreading the rides across two days helps us manage ferry capacity and reduce congestion while giving every rider more room to take in the incredible Drumheller landscape.

Registration is limited to 2,000 total cyclists on Saturday for the 163km and 100km rides, and 800 total cyclists on Sunday for the 75km and 50km rides.

Gran Fondo Badlands and TransRockies are proud to support Drumheller Rails to Trails through a donation each year that help strengthen opportunities for active living in the community. We believe the impact of our event should extend beyond race weekend, contributing to local trails and spaces where people can walk, run, cycle, and connect. By giving back to the community that welcomes our riders, we hope to help encourage healthy habits, outdoor recreation, and a more connected Drumheller for residents and visitors alike.

The Rails to Trails project is transforming Drumheller’s former railway corridor into a connected trail network for residents and visitors to explore, enjoy and experience the Valley.

After the last CN train travelled through Drumheller in 2008 and the rails were removed in 2014, the community began working toward a new vision for the corridor. In March 2022, the Town of Drumheller reached an agreement with CN that allowed that vision to move forward.

Today, more than 13 kilometres of trail connect communities and destinations throughout the Valley, including nearly 3 kilometres of paved trail through the Downtown Core.
